70cl / 50.5% / Thompson Bros - An independently bottled 1999 Ardmore 27 Year Old from the Thompson Bros. Matured in a first fill barrel with an outturn of only 161 bottles, this is an increasingly rare chance to try Ardmore from when it still used direct fired stills. Stone and clay minerality with a hint of menthol on the nose, joined by peat, sea air and discreet fruit. More fruit and a slight creaminess on the palate, with a real sense of the time in cask on the complex finish.
