Danish design house Mater pride themselves on producing high-end design. Working with specialist materials and craftspeople, their manifesto is built on celebrating local craft ethically whilst conserving the environment. Designed by Jean-Francois Merillou, the Sophie Mirror is crafted from ecologically harvested Indian mango wood with a leather rim, which – inspired by ancient barrel making tradition – has been secured using hand-hammered nails. The piece is sophisticate and elegant, whilst remaining distinctly minimalist.
