Lowe Rust Primer Red is a versatile solution for metal surfaces. It can be applied to both old and new metal, and can be painted directly onto rust. The primer binds to the surface and chemically reacts with any rust it comes into contact with, neutralizing it and preventing further corrosion. A second coat acts as a barrier, providing additional protection against future rusting. Minimal surface preparation is necessary, requiring only the removal of loose and flaky material. It can be used on damp or even wet surfaces, and does not require over-coating. However, it makes an excellent base for most standard paints if over-coating is desired.
